Wish... I were a rock

The past few days have been very turbulent for me psychologically. Have had severe mood swings, depression, anxiety to name a few. Well, life doesn’t always follow the smoothest tracks for u I guess. I have been sarcastic, rude , cynical to many of the people around me and I simply fail to fathom why? May be it’s all a vent for the frustration that has been building inside me for a very long time regarding my life, my career and my aspirations. I wanted to stay happy, at least to pretend to stay happy to people around me so that they do not feel the heat of my erratic behaviour. But, so far I’ve been unsuccessful at that. I felt like explaining things to them as in why I was avoiding them, lashing out at them and scorning them. They too deserve an explanation being some of my closest pals but, I feel I just couldn’t explain things to them. If only I could do that to them…..to myself. If only……… Well coming back to sanity, I have been tagged by Manish and Nidhi who have asked me to name...

Classroom Musings VI

Trifle Wishes I wish I were a toothbrush, cleaning up foul mouths, eliminating their evil clouts. Making this world a better place to talk about, Giving it's people some better things to gossip aloud. I wish I were a stapler, binding people together, forging relationships forever. Making this world a better place to live in, Giving all it's people a family to chip in. I wish I were a bus roof, enabling memories to be written, being a billboard for the love smitten. Making this world a better place to look at, Giving it's people some better things to gawk at. ( To be continued......)

Cant' beleive that we still are making certain movies that can pump up the adrenaline to the peak levels. This one is one of the best pieces of art I've ever seen!! Though some people might differ on it but that's what democracy is all about. Isnt' it?? The means adopted by the protagonists might have been too radical or rather unjustified but that's not what it's all about. It's about dealing with your own conflicts going inside your mind , one half of which urges you to disco...

I was recently going through a magazine article regarding the plight of the Godhra riots survivors and the apathy they are still facing in the hands of the administration and society (more so in case of minorities). Here's my tribute to those who have lost everything in the carnage. Again written in one of those classes where I turn schizophorenic sometimes and break away from the mundane realities of boredom. It comes a little late but nevertheless.... Revisiting Godhra Walking down the good old lane , where I'd been before. Looking at the black brick house, standing naked like a whore. I see no life no aged soul, for they've all been muted. The silence colours the courtyard grey , all the laughter seems diluted. Whose fault was i...

Tagged and Gagged

I have been tagged by a blogger dame called Tarni and requested to write 8 things about my dream lover. Rules of the game are … 1. The tagged victim has to come up with 8 different points of their perfect lover. 2. Need to mention the sex of the target. 3. Tag 8 victims to join this game & leave a comment on their comments saying they’ve been tagged. 4. If tagged the 2nd time, there’s no need to post again. So here I go... Sex: Thrice a week wud do great. Has to be wid a female though. Need not be a stunner. Though has to have a good taste in clothes and should be neatly dressed. Need not think only about what to wear all the time. There are many important things in life besides what to wear and what not to ;) Should be well aware about different issues and should be able to atleast contribute to every topic being discussed under the sun. Should be a big fooodie and should be able to appreciate different cuisines. Should have the courage to stand up and say" f**k you" t...

Am back ...inFESTed

I have been writing this post after a very long time. Part culprit in this delay is my lethargy and the other one is the fest that happened recently at my campus. It's called Manfest ( www.iimlmanfest.com ) and is dubbed as one of the largest B- school fests in the country. this year the budget was sumwhere around 63 lacs as compared to 33 lacs last year. Many big names in the corporate world as well as from other walks of life visited us to give talks ranging from retailing to entrepreneurship to concentration to success mantras, u just name it. It was all fun and to add colours to that were the shows by KK and Parikrama the rock band. The Pakistani band Jal was supposed to come earlier but backed out at the last moment due to some visa issues. Happens....especially when u r dealing with someone really as militant and as jehadi as a rock band from Pakistan!! All the secularity.....sovereignity....integrity....unity.....democracy....blah blah of India are put on code red the mo...

Patents Blatants

Today has been a day of revelations of patent infringements for me. In the morning the daily TOI carried a report on a chinese mobike named "Gulsar" being launched in the Brazilian market. It's actually a fake clone of our very own Bajaj Pulsar and to top it all , even looks exactly like one. Will somebody teach ingenuity to China or is it just about copying , large scale manufacturing and dumping of goods ? The second encounter was during my dinner meal at Sahara Ganj, a mall in Lucknow where we had gone to do some shopping. We had our meal at a food plaza where I bought a meal combo of a chicken 'maha' burger, a piece of fried chicken and a regular Pepsi from a stall called "Jack in the box". Only God knows what this name has to do with a restaurant? But, this is the case everywhere with these desi gone firang restaurants. Open up a supposedly multicuisine restaurant, give it a pseud yankee name and offer a brutally raped Indianised version of everyth...

My point

Just got hold of a mail I wrote a long time back to a very close friend of mine when he tried to convince me of getting rid of fags (which I had recently started at that time) by sending me a very harsh message online. I was in a little inebbriated state at that time (yeah...i do this sin too!!) and seriously wasn't in the mood to argue over this point. So, the best method I realised at that time was to write him back describing my point of view on the matter(every sin has a justification u see!!) . The tragedy was that we stopped talking for quite some time as he got quite pissed off with my reply. Though since than we have resolved our differences and share the same beautiful relationship as ever but I simply cannot forget this incident thru my life even if I want to, the mail and it's repurcussions that is. It ran something like that... " Hi, This ain’t no justification mail urging u to talk to me as asked to abstain from. This is just to make one thing clear and driv...

Classroom Musings IV

Here's one poem I wrote while in class sixth. The teacher had one word and asked us to write a poem on it. My word was 'Sun'. The Dawn The dawn comes as the sun rises, waking every bird and plant. And, filling their mind with happiness, like the dreams of them have come true. Every bird is chirping aloud, and the flowers blossom , like the sudden burst of rain from a cloud.

I came...I saw...I slept

Am back from hols after about a week. Itz the time when u really want to run away from everything around you. But as usual things don't always go ur way. The week went past in a jiffy without giving me time even to pull thru properly. Am realxing in every possible way since I've come back, catching up with 7-8 hrs of sleep at nite, watching movies, playin pool, listening to some really soulful songs like "Zindaa hoon " by Strings and some stuff by Rabbi and Jal also.Heavy metal has taken a back seat for a while. Have already given in to one sin out of seven that is GLUTTANY. I've been eating a lot than ever ever since I went back home. People have already starting to point out that I'm gaining a lil' more of adipose tissues jus by lookin' at my face. Hafta start jogging soon. My new year resolution of doin' away wid fags went up in smoke on the very first day in the campus wen a friend took out a pack of Camels he got from Bangalore. This is what...

"On A Day Like Today"

Had a really tough paper today. Won't exactly say that I smashed it....I never do that, I never can , in this paper atleast . But , it went decent according to what I had expected. Had a debacle yesterday before exam. I had the classroom door shut right in front on my face with still six-seven minutes to go before the grilling. As the rules say: "Door of the Examination Hall will be closed five minutes before the commencement of the examination and late comers will be allowed after 30 minutes irrespective of the time duration of the examination." Worse still, we had one of the strictest and senior most profs inside. allmost fifty hapless souls had to wait a good ol' half an hour to get in. Worser still, somebody banged the door behind me just when the PGP chairman was there. So, I had to come in the line of fire but, obviously. Saved my ass somehow but, couldn't manage to lead the queueing model that developed outside the exam hall. Actually the prof had asked al...

Choose.....

Choose life . Choose a job . Choose a career . Choose a family . Choose a f***ing big television . Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers . Choose good health , low cholesterol , and dental insurance . Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments . Choose a starter home . Choose your friends . Choose leisurewear and matching fabrics . Choose DIY and wondering who the f**k you are on a Sunday morning . Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit crushing game shows , stuffing junk food into your mouth . Choose rotting away at the end of it all , pishing your last in a miserable home , nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish , fu***d up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose a future . Choose life ... But why would I want to do a thing like that? ( Trainspotting - the movie)

Obituary

Today we mourn the passing of an old friend, by the name of"Common Sense" Common Sense lived a long life but died in theUnited States from heart failure on the brink of the newmillennium. No one really knows how old he was, since his birthrecords were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools, hospitals, homes, factories helping folks get jobs done without fanfare andfoolishness. For decades, petty rules, silly laws, and frivolouslawsuits held no power over Common Sense. He was credited withcultivating such valued lessons as to know when to come in out ofthe rain, why the early bird gets the worm, and that life isn'talways fair.Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don'tspend more than you! earn), reliable parenting strategies (theadults are in charge, not the kids), and it's okay to come insecond. A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the GreatDepression, and the Technological Revolution, Commo...

Genius is what Genius does

" I stand at the seashore alone and start to think. There are rushing waves, mountains of molecules, each stupidly minding its own business, trillions apart yet forming white surf in unison. Ages on ages before any eyes could see, year after year thunderously pounding the shore as now. For whom for what on a dead planet with no life to entertain. Never at rest, tortured by energy; wasted prodigiously by the Sun, poured into space, its might makes the sea roar. Deep in the sea all molecules repeat the patterns of one another till complex new ones are found. They make others like themselves and a new dance starts. Growing in size and complexity, living things, masses of atoms, DNA, proteins dancing a pattern ever more intricate. Out of the cradle onto the dry land, here it is standing, atoms with consciousness, matter with curiosity, stands at the sea, wonders at wondering, I , a universe of atoms an atom in the universe."
